There are wide range of treatments currently available for neuro-psychiatric disorders but most of them are associated with limited response, adverse side-effect profile, and residual symptoms. In various animal models, activation of CB1 receptors has shown to be reduce anxiety, panic, compulsion, fear-conditioned response (fear extinction), and reduce consolidation of negative memories.

CBD has been highly studied in the context of public speaking. Studies have shown that CBD not only reduced anxiety associated with public speaking but it also reduced anticipatory anxiety in both healthy individuals and those suffering from SAD (Social Anxiety disorder).

Human studies have also shown that CBD is protective against the psychotic effects of THC in higher doses especially in long-term users.

Another study concluded that phyto-cannabinoids and terpenes in cannabis were associated with reduction in ADHD medications. A particular cannabinoid called CBN was associated with reduction in ASRS scores (that are used to evaluated ADHD in adults).
